Regent’s Park wins Swindon contract

Regent’s Park  Announces the Award of a Contract to Provide Invasive Cardiology Services at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Swindon

London, United Kingdom, 11 October, 2009: Regent’s Park Heart Clinics Ltd. & Regent’s Park Cardiovascular Solutions Ltd. (Regent’s Park), independent healthcare companies specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease, today announced they have been awarded a contract to provide invasive cardiology services at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon, part of the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (“Great Western”).

Dr. Ohri, Chief Executive of Regent’s Park said: “We are very pleased to have won this competitive tender following its advertisement in the Official Journal of the European Union. The award will add to our growing network of specialist cardiology facilities and confirm our position as the UK’s leading independent cardiology services provider. The award fits extremely well with our strategy of working with leading NHS hospitals to improve the access and quality of cardiac care to local communities. We all look forward to the privilege of working with the cardiologists and staff at the Great Western.”

Regent’s Park will be providing the Trust with a fully staffed mobile cardiac catheterisation laboratory – one the newest in their current fleet of labs – that will remain on site throughout the duration of the contract.

Leighton Day, Cardiology Services Manager and part of the tender assessment team at the Great Western said: “We look forward to working with Regent’s Park going forward to help develop our exciting service expansion plans at the Trust”. He added:  “They won this tender because they had an excellent track record of working with other NHS Trusts, were able to offer the latest cath lab equipment, and were more competitively priced than any of the other bidders.”

The Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (formerly the Swindon and Marlborough NHS Trust) provides health services from two main sites – the Great Western Hospital in Swindon, which is a district general hospital, and Savernake hospital in Marlborough. The Trust employs 3,300 staff, serving a population of about 330,000 people and has an annual turnover in the region of £156 million. The Great Western Hospital opened in December 2002, replacing the Princess Margaret Hospital in old town Swindon. The hospital is a modern district general hospital with more than 600 beds and offers a range of services and facilities from a busy emergency department boasting one of the best helipads in the country, a dynamic radiology department, a birthing pool, and ample car parking. The Trust has one of the lowest MRSA infection rates in the country.
