Regent’s Park awarded Northern Ireland contract

LONDON, United Kingdom, 20 October, 2013: Regent’s Park Cardiovascular Solutions Ltd. (Regent’s Park), an independent healthcare company specialising in the provision of cardiology services to the NHS, today announced it has been awarded a major contract to provide managed cardiology services to Craigavon Area Hospital, part of the Southern Health and Social Care Trust in Northern Ireland.

Dr. Ohri, Chief Executive Officer of Regent’s Park said: “We are delighted to have won this highly competitive tender and to break into a brand new territory of the United Kingdom.” He added: “The contract provides the Trust with additional capacity and outsources the management of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), angiography and pacemaker services into a brand new cath lab which we will supply and fully staff.” He commented: “The Trust needed a cardiology partner with the resources, expertise and track-record of delivering complex cardiology services. The tender was advertised in the Official Journal of the European Union and we were especially pleased to receive near perfect 100% evaluation scores across the criteria of quality, finance and deliverability.”

Dr. Ohri said: “Developing innovative services and solutions that create efficiencies, address costs and improve patient access and outcomes has been a core component of our operating model since 2003. We expect these same core value propositions will be increasingly relevant as the NHS cardiology marketplace becomes ever more focused on cost efficiency and service quality over the next ten years.”

The Southern Health and Social Care Trust is a major provider of acute hospital and social care services across the five council areas of Armagh, Banbridge, Craigavon, Dungannon, and Newry and Mourne. The Trust employs approximately 13,000 staff and spends £532 million annually in the delivery of health and social care services. Craigavon Area Hospital has an established invasive cardiology department that performs a full range of cardiology interventions including primary PCI and electrophysiology & ablation. According to the latest British Cardiovascular Intervention Society audit, Northern Ireland has one of the highest intervention rates for percutaneous coronary interventions in the United Kingdom at 1917 per million of the population.

Regent’s Park has been a national provider of cardiology services to the NHS since 2003. The company comprises five operating divisions arranged across a nationwide network of cardiac catheterisation laboratories, cardiac personnel and specialist heart clinics that together have delivered over 85,000 invasive cardiology procedures – coronary angiograms, angioplasty, cardiac electrophysiology, transcatheter aortic valve implantations, defibrillator insertions and pacing procedures.
