SALISBURY, Wiltshire, United Kingdom, 21 November 2024: Regent's Park Healthcare is extremely proud to announce that Dr Anil Ohri, our Founder & CEO won the UK Ernst & Young (EY) Entrepreneur of the Year 2024 Award for Societal Impact at a gala dinner held last night at the Tate Modern in London.
In his acceptance speech, Dr Ohri said: “Thank you EY judges for your generous decision. It is a tremendous privilege to win this highly prestigious award, and I receive this honour with great humility and deep gratitude. As a business founder, I have been aware of the EY award programme for many years and its rich history and pedigree. It is a hugely impressive programme, and this award speaks to the highest aspirations it has always encouraged within me to drive quality and business innovation, to push the boundaries of what’s possible, and to make a difference to people and society.”
He added: "This award holds a special meaning for me, it represents a journey that began with a deeply personal experience. When my father nearly lost his life waiting 18 months on the NHS to access a diagnostic angiogram and coronary stent, it changed my perspective forever. It was my motivation for leaving medicine. That moment became the driving force behind my determination to address inefficiencies in healthcare delivery and ensure timely care for everyone. It was the reason I founded Regent's Park Healthcare.
Every morning, I wake up feeling privileged to lead RPH. It is truly an honour to work alongside such dedicated professionals who share a common passion for improving lives.
I want to dedicate this award to the extraordinary healthcare professionals who make our mission possible. From nurses and doctors to radiographers, physiologists, porters, cleaners, managers and administrators, their tireless efforts are the backbone of healthcare. The recognition this brings to my fellow workers at RPH is hugely up-lifting and will always be deeply cherished."
Dr Ohri said: “While this award is a moment of reflection - 262,000 patients treated across our facilities and £145 million of economic savings RPH delivered to the NHS across two decades - it is also a call to action. There is still so much work to do. It is a motivator for our incredible team to do more, reach higher, and create an even brighter future. RPH is committed to expanding our efforts, fostering innovation, and supporting philanthropic initiatives to further increase our societal impact. Together, we will continue creating jobs, driving investment, and addressing critical challenges in healthcare."
Dr Ohri added: "I leave you with the inspirational words of Amartya Sen, a 91 year old Indian Noble laureate, economist and philosopher, which perfectly capture my vision for RPH:
“Economic growth is not an end in itself but a means to an end - the enhancement of human lives, the expansion of freedoms, and the creation of opportunities. True success lies in how we translate progress into prosperity for all.”
More about the EY award program:
EY Entrepreneur Of The Year (EY EOY) is an annual award program sponsored by Ernst & Young in recognition of entrepreneurship. Dubbed "the ultimate global competition and event for entrepreneurs,” EY EOY is a unique global programme that recognises entrepreneurial achievement among individuals and companies that demonstrate vision, leadership and success — and work to improve the quality of life in their communities, countries and around the world. Founded in 1986 in Milwaukee as a single award, the program now runs across the world covering all 50 U.S. states and in more than 60 countries.[1] Since 1986, over 10,000 founders, CEOs, and business leaders have received awards,[2] with an average of 400 recipients annually. Previous recipients of the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year award[3] include Narayana Murthy of Infosys Technology (India), Guy Laliberté of Cirque du Soleil (France), and Michael Spencer of ICAP (UK).
In 2024, the UK programme received hundreds of entries across every industry group, from which 60 regional finalists were chosen, these were narrowed to 2 winners from each of the five regions of the UK – London & South, Midlands & Southwest, North, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The final 10 regional winners were then invited to attend the UK finalist event. They were chosen by an independent judging panel of business leaders and tested through a series of evaluation rounds. The winners were selected for their vision, innovation, and leadership in building businesses that make an impact.
Frank O’Keeffe, Managing Partner, EY UK & Ireland Markets, comments “This year’s UK winners are inspirational and truly embody the entrepreneurial spirit. They’ve shown remarkable adaptability and leadership, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with their creativity and determination, and collectively employ over 19,600 people across the UK. We are proud to recognise their success through the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ programme and look forward to seeing their continued growth and impact.”
